HITCHHIKING THROUGH WESTERN EUROPE

First thought about going for a trip together appeared many months before the actual trip, but the serious talks started in May 2018. We've heard about new European Parliament's initiative - free Interrail tickets for all Europeans turning 18 this year. We thought 'why not' and started planning. From the very beginning we knew we want to take advantage of the holidays, so we had to go where we could actually feel the summer vibes. We chose France, Monaco, Spain and Portugal. Initial plan of a trip looked like this:
  • Paris
  • Lyon
  • Marseille
  • Nice
  • Cannes
  • Monaco
  • Montpellier
  • Barcelona
  • Ibiza
  • Madrid
  • Sevilla
  • Faro
  • Lisbon
The plan was very optimistic for a 3-week trip. We decided that if we won't win Interrail tickets we'll go for a trip anyway. We bought one-way ticket to Paris. We started to think intensively about what we are going to do if we won't win, cause to be honest our chances were small:( First idea was to visit Paris and then come back to Poland, but suddenly the word HITCHHIKING appeared. And then it all has started... Smile from ear to ear, sparkling from excitement eyes and inner conviction that we have to do this. We have to make it happen. We started planning, buying all the stuff we needed and reading articles/blogs about hitchhiking. Ok, the day the winners were supposed to be accounted came. And...? We didn't win. And you know what? It was such a relief. Yeah, sure it would be much easier with Interrail tickets but it wouldn't be as fun as hitchhiking trip. The departure day has come. Our flight was at 6 a.m. from Warsaw Airport so we left our city at  about 1 a.m. I didn't sleep that night - excitement and not knowing what is going to happen in the next 3 weeks wouldn't let me sleep nor stop smiling. Cause at the end of the day it was going to be my first, serious and such a long journey :)
